Job Description

We are looking for a friendly and detail-oriented Front Desk Supervisor to lead our team at Glacier Bay Lodge in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. In this leadership role, you will oversee daily front desk operations, ensuring exceptional guest service while managing a team of front desk agents. The Front Desk Supervisor plays a key role in fostering a welcoming environment, maintaining operational efficiency, and upholding the standards of our unique lodging experience in the heart of nature.

This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of May 7 – September 10, 2026. We offer competitive wages, paid sick leave, on-site housing and meal plan ($16/day all inclusive!), and local discounts!

Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training.

Job Responsibilities
  • Guest Services
    • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide a seamless check-in and check-out experience.
    • Answer guest inquiries about room availability, hotel amenities, and park attractions with enthusiasm and accuracy.
    • Handle guest concerns, complaints, and special requests with professionalism, ensuring satisfaction.
  • Reservation Management
    • Manage room reservations, cancellations, and modifications via the property management system.
    • Communicate clearly with guests regarding booking details, policies, and pricing.
    • Optimize room inventory to maximize occupancy and revenue while meeting guest needs.
  • Administrative Duties
    • Accurately process payments, handle cash, and manage daily financial reports.
    • Maintain organized records of guest information, reservations, and other front desk activities.
    • Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to fulfill guest requests and ensure smooth operations.
  • Promote Local Knowledge
    • Share information about the park’s attractions, trails, dining options, and activities to enhance guests’ visits.
    • Stay updated on local events, seasonal highlights, and park regulations to assist guests effectively.
  • Hotel Standards and Policies
    • Ensure compliance with safety, security, and operational standards.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk area at all times.
  • Front Desk Staff Supervision
    • Provide daily leadership, guidance, and support to front desk agents.
    • Train new and returning staff on check-in procedures, customer service standards, reservation systems, and hotel policies.
    • Offer ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and skill development to enhance team effectiveness.
    • Monitor front desk workflow to ensure consistent guest service, proper coverage, and adherence to standards.
    • Lead by example in maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and a positive guest experience.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Prior experience in a front desk, hospitality, or customer service role. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with reservation systems, POS software, and basic computer skills.
  • Attributes: A positive attitude, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for customer service and the outdoors.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Comfortable living and working in a remote or semi-remote national park setting.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and handle occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
  • This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing.
  • This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
