LocationThis position is onsite at our Akutan, AK shore plant. Remote work is not possible.
SummaryThe IT Technician position requires strong overall IT technical skillset, excellent customer service and interaction skills, and strong organizational skills. Key Responsibilities- Configure, install, troubleshoot, and maintain software, network hardware, printers, servers, routers, bridges, switches, modems, AP’s, cabling, and Internet service providers in person and remotely.
- Manage on‑site inventory and the total lifecycle of IT assets at AK locations.
- Network support and troubleshooting from device connectivity to VLAN configuration.
- Work directly with corporate IT groups and other internal/external resources to resolve complex issues.
- Configure non‑traditional network attached devices (PLCs, manufacturing equipment, security cameras, door access control, etc.) to interface with local networks.
- Assist corporate IT with system upgrades and patching.
- Respond to automated system alerts and open service and trouble tickets for AK locations.
- Provide after‑hours escalation support for AK manufacturing locations.
- Assist in gathering and relaying project requirements for AK sites to IT PMO.
- Assist with Trident vessels IT support when required.
- Travel to Alaska and work on an average 90 day on, 20 days off rotation with other members of the AK IT Support group, depending on plant needs, seasons, and other team coverage.
- Perform other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
- Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
- Notify designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety training.
Employees working in Alaska are advised to have medical insurance coverage which is valid in the State of Alaska.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate degree in IT with Network Administration or technical certifications (i.e. A+, Network+, MCSE, CCNA).
- 2+ years of professional experience building, deploying, and troubleshooting computer systems, hardware, printers, software, and IP networks within an enterprise environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and ensure deadlines are met while maintaining a high level of quality in the team’s work.
- Must be flexible to work various shift patterns and up to 7 days a week while rotated onsite in AK while working in a remote manufacturing environment.
- Experience installing IT hardware to physical locations (drilling, mounting brackets, pulling cable, terminating cable, patching switches)
- Experience with network switch programming and VLAN configuration.
- Experience with Innova Marel systems
- Experience supporting Meraki Access Points (or similar managed AP platform).
- Experience supporting Windows 10 & 11 clients.
- Experience supporting Windows servers, specifically running on Microsoft Hyper-V platform.
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions (i.e. Rubrik).
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
- Experience with industrial controls (PLC) network support.
- Comfortable working with mission critical and sensitive systems, with a sense of urgency appropriate to the responsibilities.
- Able to work independently while maintaining patience with constant interruptions.
- Comfortable with heights (i.e. working on lifts).
- Due to the high visibility of this position, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
