The SEI CERT Cyber Risk and Resilience Directorate focuses on operational resilience by researching emerging risk areas, creating assessment tools, and developing frameworks that enable organizations to reduce risk. The Cyber Risk Management team designs, prototypes, and transitions novel risk management methods, supporting government and industry partners on cyber‑dependent missions.
Job Description SummaryThe Technical Manager of the Cyber Risk Management Team will develop and manage a sustained applied research and technical agenda that supports the DoD’s strategic challenges. Responsibilities include communicating technical vision, tasking projects, creating statements of work, managing project plans, overseeing finances, generating new work and customers, and working with business development staff while ensuring high customer satisfaction. The role supervises staff and represents the team to stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Develop and communicate the technical vision for the CRM team.
- Create project work statements and manage project plans.
- Oversee initiative finances, accounting, and resource allocation.
- Generate new work and customer relationships.
- Collaborate with business development to secure new opportunities.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction through effective execution.
- Supervise and mentor staff.
- Advise senior leadership on emerging threats and risk reduction.
- Education/Training: BS in risk management, cybersecurity, information systems, economics, mathematics, or related field; advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Experience: Ten (10) years in roles such as enterprise risk executive, risk manager, or chief investigator engaged in risk management research; experience with risk quantification tools, frameworks, governance, network architectures, cybersecurity, AI concepts, project planning, financial management, strategic planning, and DoD risk tools and policies.
- Skills/Abilities: Mastery of risk management concepts, cyber security best practices, analytical and organizational reasoning, communication, employee performance management, financial/resource management, paper and presentation preparation, strategic planning, product development, stakeholder interaction, confidentiality, and security clearance eligibility.
- Preferred Qualifications: RIMS‑Certified Risk Management Professional, Certified Enterprise Risk Manager, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certified Information Security Manager, Certified Information Systems Auditor.
- Additional Requirements: Subject to a background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
