Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Fire Control (GFC) / GMD Communications Network (GCN) System Operator to support the GMD program under the System Integration, Test, and Readiness (SITR) contact at Fort Greely, Alaska. This requisition may be filled at the Network Monitoring Technician 1 or Network Monitoring Technician 2 level. In this role, you will support the operation of the GFC and GCN by effectively monitoring and managing Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) devices.
- Utilize Solar Winds and other network management tools to monitor hardware devices, virtual machines, and network connections.
- Configure router and switch interfaces in accordance with written documentation.
- Detect, log, and report faults involving network interfaces, endpoint devices, WAN circuit issues, and other hardware/software anomalies.
- Assist Field Engineers with anomaly investigation, data collection, and troubleshooting activities.
- Join and participate in conferences related to asset cutovers and major system transition events.
- Maintain and organize archives of critical system logs on workstations and servers.
- Accurately record events in written and electronic shift logs; maintain trouble-ticket records using a Microsoft Access database.
- Strictly adhere to all applicable processes, approved procedures, and management directives.
- Respond effectively to work schedule changes as needed to support mission requirements.
- Execute tasks involving the startup, shutdown, configuration, monitoring, and analysis of GFC software.
- Monitor GMD assets and promptly report changes in status.
- Identify and assess operational issues involving GFC hardware and software.
- Assist as needed with test or exercise events, system patching, and software/hardware upgrades.
- Interface with military, industry partners, and government customers to answer questions and help resolve issues.
- Analyze, document, and report anomalies; determine root cause, recommend solutions, and implement corrective action when required.
- Understand and execute standard operating procedures to maximize operational availability.
- Support customer deliverables, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with Site Operation Lead to provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) for new GFC/GCN System Operators.
Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
