Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, General Labor
Location: Cordova
What You Will Be Doing
- Operates and services heavy and light-duty equipment for the year-round maintenance of state highways and airports, including snow removal, grading, and material hauling.
- Maintains vegetation, signs, bridges, culverts, drainage structures, bike paths, and road surfaces within the State Right-of-Way.
- Performs traffic control duties such as flagging and may serve as a lead, completing daily entries in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
- Conducts equipment upkeep, welding, cutting, and general maintenance tasks as needed.
- Operates various specialized equipment including graders, loaders, dozers, dump trucks, snow blowers, semi-trucks, and steam boilers for maintenance and repair operations.

This is a non-permanent full-time seasonal position located in Cordova, Alaska, within the Valdez District. Expect a dynamic, fast-paced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. You’ll work independently and as part of a team, often in challenging weather or terrain. Shift work and emergency responses are part of the role, and safety is a priority. Our supportive team and ongoing training ensure you have the tools to succeed in any situation.
