The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation Valdez District is looking for a Full-Time Equipment Operator Journey 2 to help us

What you will be doing:

Equipment Operator Journey 2:

• Operate 8-yard dump trucks with plow, sander, and blade attachments for snow removal and aggregate hauling
• Use motor graders for ditching, surface repair, and snow operations
• Transport heavy equipment with semi-tractors, lowboys, belly dumps, and water tankers
• Operate dozers (D4–D7), loaders, and snow blowers for material handling and snow removal
• Perform loader work in pits, snow dumping, and material loading
• Handle general duties: flagging, maintenance, manual labor, and shop cleanup
• May act as lead, entering daily data into the State MMS system
• Operate steam boilers to thaw drainage structures
• Weld and cut materials for equipment maintenance and repair

This is a full-time position located in Cordova, Alaska, within the Valdez District. Expect a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. You’ll work independently and as part of a team, often in challenging weather or terrain. Shift work and emergency responses are part of the role, and safety is a priority.
