Position Summary
The Public Spaces Supervisor oversees the daily cleanliness, presentation, and upkeep of public and employee areas at Icy Strait Point. This role leads and supports the cleaning staff, ensures restrooms and facilities are clean and well-stocked, and helps maintain a safe, welcoming environment for guests and employees. The supervisor works hands-on alongside the team, promotes a positive and safety-focused work culture, and supports site operations through seasonal and weather-dependent demands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and support public spaces and cleaning staff, ensuring work is completed to established standards.
- Inventory
- Monitor, order, and restock cleaning supplies. - Ensure restrooms are clean, sanitary, and fully stocked throughout operating hours.
- Oversee cleaning of offices, employee spaces, and other assigned facilities.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs of the site to identify cleaning, stocking, or safety needs.
- Pick up trash and debris across the property to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Maintain and tend fires in designated areas as required.
- Cut and prepare firewood as needed to support site operations.
- Train staff on proper cleaning procedures, safety practices, and equipment use.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and safe work environment.
- Assist with scheduling, task assignments, and coverage during peak operational periods.
- Address performance or conduct issues professionally and escalate as appropriate.
- Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Other duties as assigned to support operations.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly; occasional heavier lifting with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to cut wood and perform outdoor labor tasks as needed.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, wind, and cold.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, tools, noise, and a busy tourism environment.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or lead experience in cleaning, facilities, or public space operations preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead by example and work alongside staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and high service standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
