Reports To: Director of Operations / Executive Leadership
Supervises: General Managers (GM) for all Denali business units
Employment Type: Seasonal, Exempt

Position Summary

The Denali Area Manager is the senior on-site leader responsible for overseeing the operational, financial, and people performance of all Northern Hospitality Group (NHG) businesses operating in the Denali area. This role provides direct supervision and accountability for each General Manager
, ensuring consistency, profitability, compliance, and exceptional guest experience across all locations.

Operating in a high-volume, seasonal, and remote environment, the Denali Area Manager serves as the primary operational authority in Denali
, acting as the critical link between corporate leadership and field execution. Success in this role requires strong leadership presence, financial discipline, operational expertise, and the ability to make sound decisions in fast-moving conditions.

Key Responsibilities
General Manager Leadership & Performance Management
  • Directly supervise, coach, and evaluate all Denali General Managers.
  • Establish clear expectations for operational execution, financial performance, and leadership standards.
  • Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings, site visits, and formal performance evaluations.
  • Provide guidance and support related to hiring, training, scheduling, disciplinary actions, and team development in alignment with company policies.
  • Hold General Managers accountable for results while fostering a culture of professionalism, ownership, and accountability.
Operational Oversight
  • Ensure consistent execution of company operating standards across all Denali locations, including food & beverage, lodging, retail, or hybrid operations.
  • Monitor daily operations and intervene as needed to address service failures, staffing challenges, or guest issues.
  • Identify operational gaps and lead corrective action planning in partnership with General Managers.
  • Coordinate across locations to ensure smooth labor deployment, inventory management, transportation, and guest services.
  • Oversee and monitor financial performance for each Denali business, including labor costs, cost of goods, operating expenses, and profitability.
  • Review budgets, forecasts, and financial reports with each General Manager.
  • Analyze overall performance metrics and KPIs across all Denali businesses.
  • Identify trends and variances and implement strategies to improve margins and financial outcomes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely use of company systems related to scheduling, payroll, POS, and reporting.
Seasonal Planning & Execution
  • Lead pre-season planning, seasonal ramp‑up, and full-season execution for all Denali operations.
  • Ensure each location is operationally, financially, and staff‑ready prior to opening.
  • Partner with corporate teams (HR, Finance, Training, Facilities) to support seasonal workforce needs and operational readiness.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, employment law, food safety standards, alcohol service regulations, and applicable Alaska laws.
  • Oversee adherence to safety protocols, cash handling procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify and elevate material risks, incidents, or compliance concerns promptly to executive leadership.
Leadership & Culture
  • Serve as a visible, respected leader across all Denali operations.
  • Model calm, decisive leadership in a high‑pressure seasonal environment.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and guest‑first thinking.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 5+ years of senior management experience in hospitality, food & beverage, lodging, or high‑volume multi‑unit operations.
  • Proven experience directly managing General Managers or equivalent senior leaders
    .
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, labor management, and performance analysis.
  • Ability to lead effectively in a fast‑paced, remote, seasonal environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred
  • Experience in Alaska or remote seasonal resort environments
