JOB SUMMARY
The Valve Maintenance Technician maintains, repairs, and rebuilds various valves throughout the Kuparuk oilfield. Valves include ANSI and API, Technician sets and removes Back Pressure Valves in wellhead trees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Basic Computer Skills.
Basic experience with BPV operations including Boom Truck Ops/Wellhead.
Proficient in BPV job scopes, can set & pull H-plug, ISA, TWC, TTP on rig & wellhead.
Demonstrated ability to perform all repairs of actuators in the field.
Working knowledge of P&'s and where to find them.
Working knowledge of SIMOPS, EIP's, job setup and execution
Working knowledge of the SVS system, has assisted with SVS testing.
Assists with BPV operations, working knowledge of job scope, wellhead, and basic lubricator operating experience.
Working knowledge of both hydro stands operating with minimal oversight
Proficient in rebuilding and Maintaining Lincoln pumps, hyper guns, and back pressure valves.
Demonstrated safety leadership skills.
Effective communication and leadership skills, intermediate level mentoring skills.
Must understand the prioritization of safety, quality, production and be willing to work accordingly.
A successful candidate for this position must be familiar with the various types of valves used in Kuparuk, including gate valves, ball valves, plug valves, mechanically actuated valves, check valves and choke valves, in addition to understanding the wellhead piping itself.
Candidate must understand which sealants, greases and injectable packings are required for each valve.
Candidate must be able to recognize damaged or faulty wellhead and facility valves.
Must be competent to recognize and deal with any leak or malfunction that they may encounter.
Must be knowledgeable and skilled at hydro testing repaired, rebuilt, or third party valves and must be able to read and interpret graphs and charts required under API/ANSI and state codes.

Ability to read and comprehend Alaska Safety Handbook, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Understanding of work permit system relating to job duties.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to calculate craft-related formulas with respect to bolting up and hydro-testing (material quantities, volumes, pressures, etc.).
Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
A valid (U.S issued, Alaska compliant) Class A or B CDL is required.
A current DOT Medical Card is required.
A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.
At least five (5) years of experience as a Valve Maintenance Technician in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry and/or on the North Slope is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Previous ice road driving experience is preferred.
