Under general supervision, performs varied tasks to assemble electro‑mechanical components of products following established processes. Performs precise assembly tasks on components requiring a high degree of hand‑to‑eye coordination. Expectation is to have or gain the ability to construct simple assemblies that are then assembled into high level units.
Responsibilities- Competently align parts in relationship to each other using assorted hand‑tools and visual judgment.
- Assemble intermediate complexity sub‑assemblies per print and work instructions in accordance with established workmanship standards.
- Accurately measure assembly specifications (electrical and mechanical) with instruments such as microscopes, calipers, drop gages, etc.
- Perform cold testing and other electrical tests using meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Inspect components visually or with a microscope for proper assembly, welds, concentricity, burrs, foreign objects, etc.; make corrections as necessary.
- Inspect for cold brazes, voids, braze fillet, etc.
- Spot weld (resistance, basic TIG and laser) in accordance with established workmanship standards.
- Train other assemblers at or below job grade.
- Communicate, share, and volunteer information with supervisor and teammates.
- Be aware of production schedule demands and work to meet targets consistently.
- Be aware of department scrap and yield targets and work to meet them consistently.
- Perform basic leak checks of sub‑assemblies.
- Apply paint to products using professional‑grade spray guns; responsibilities include mixing paints to desired specifications, setting up and maintaining spray equipment, and ensuring even application and finish quality.
- During spray painting tasks, wear a half‑face, NIOSH‑approved supplied‑air respirator and perform duties in accordance with Workmanship Standards.
- Perform sand‑blasting operations on assemblies to clean and prepare surface for subsequent processes.
- During blasting operations, wear a full‑face, NIOSH‑approved supplied‑air respirator (Type CE).
- Understand and follow department procedures for handling and storing parts.
- Perform duties in accordance with Workmanship Standards.
- Maintain work area and tools in a clean and orderly manner daily.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–4 years related experience.
- Ability to read and follow drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
- Ability to use measuring equipment.
