Dock Leads assist the Dock Foreperson in coordinating deliveries and relevant operations, monitoring activities of workers engaged in dock work, and performing the following duties. Effective 1 December 2024, Dock Lead III residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co‑pay of $15 per day for room and board for each day that at least 8 hours of work are offered.
Key Responsibilities- Lead one or more sections of the dock area pertaining to training, quality, workmanship, productivity, recovery, sanitation, and employee practices.
- Ensure proper use of protective gear, safe operation of machinery, and safe use of chemical cleaning agents.
- Report continuing performance and attendance issues to the supervisor.
- Receive and answer questions from workers regarding dock area processes or equipment operation.
- Monitor and expedite flow of materials within the dock area, making adjustments when necessary.
- Notify the foreperson of equipment malfunctions.
- Tend or operate machines or equipment in the dock area to substitute for absentee workers.
- Maintain workflow records and documents as necessary.
- Assure compliance with all safety and dock work practices.
- Train workers in equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Communicate with supervisors and other lead personnel about any problems or concerns.
- Perform activities of workers supervised.
- Dock Leads may be assigned duties and tasks the same as dock workers and keys as needed.
- Operate crane, forklift, and other equipment with appropriate operator licenses.
- Identify all incoming fish and properly segregate according to species, grade, size, and color.
- Coordinate segregation by species to facility fish bins and RSW.
- Perform other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
- Actively participate in safety policies, activities and implementations.
- Assist the Quality Control Technician if necessary.
- Oversee and direct dock workers and keys as assigned.
- Assist the Dock foreperson with all relevant dock operations.
- Assist with training of dock workers and keys.
- Supervise and direct dock workers, keys, and leads as assigned.
- Be proficient in two or more areas of the dock.

Minimum Qualifications- Has worked in a key position at a Trident location in the past year or has similar experience.
- Forklift, crane, and other applicable operator licenses.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations; ability to perform basic arithmetic; knowledge of email, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; frequently required to climb or balance; occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear; moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception;
ability to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and a usually loud noise level.
