Marketing & Communication Manager

Summary

The Marketing and Communication Manager is a member of the Advancement team and supports the organization’s internal and external communications, focusing on community relations, social media, brand management, and marketing of Providence Animal Center and Francis vale Home for Smaller Animals. This job description should be taken as a general description of the position's responsibilities. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Accountability

This position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Solely responsible for all social media content creation, posting several times daily, daily monitoring of comments, and overall planning and collaboration with other departments to curate all content needs.
  • Create and maintain marketing and communications calendars, including social content plans.
  • Management of all marketing vendor relationships, including printers, web designers, event planners, and media outlets.
  • Working to write clear, creative marketing copy to promote programs, fundraising efforts, and services, including solicitation materials.
  • Edit the website as needed, as well as create new pages and forms and troubleshoot issues working with the contracted web developer.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation and maintenance of the organization's communication and marketing strategy and narrative framework in collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer while taking programmatic and philanthropic needs into account.
  • Ensure communications across all channels are aligned with the organization’s strategic and fundraising plans and consistent with building the organization’s brand(s).
  • Strategically align the development of the organization's printed and online materials with the organization’s overall fundraising, digital, and communications strategy.
  • Coordinate and represent the organizations in national and local press and marketing opportunities, serving as the organizations’ primary storyteller.
  • Foster relationships with local media contacts.
  • Oversee development of PAC-branded merchandise and publications, including monthly emails, PAC Newsletter, calendar, book opportunities, and more.
  • Stay current on the state of animal welfare and adoptions, daily monitoring the news and developments to identify marketing opportunities.
  • Provide monthly marketing and communications reports to the Chief Advancement Officer to measure strategy effectiveness.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assist in a range of duties to support the planning and coordination of fundraising and event support.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; excellent written skills with demonstrated ability to craft compelling, effective messaging for fundraising purposes.
  • Strong content creation skills.
  • Up-to-speed with current and online marketing strategies, trends, techniques, and best practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of web analytics; ability to analyze data to guide strategy, apply new strategies and techniques.
  • Proficiency with Adobe products (InDesign, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop), Microsoft Office suite, Word Press, and Constant Contact.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Work positively and productively in an open-office environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to work both indoors and outdoors as required by the function.
  • Must have the physical ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
Position Type and Work Schedule
  • This position is a full-time position.
  • Typical schedule:

    Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm.
  • Requires the ability to work long and irregular hours for major fundraising events.
