Parks Maintenance Technician - Northern Region; Temp

This position assists in the maintenance of Borough parks, Trailheads, and lake accesses.

Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values:

This position is a six (6) month temporary assignment expected to run from April 1 - September 30 2026. The anticipated schedule is Thursday - Monday 7am - 3:30pm with a 30 minute lunch. E1 - E5 DOE

High School diploma or equivalent.

One year of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
Experience and skills needed may include:
Experience operating SUV’s, Pickup Trucks, ATV’s, UTVs. Also the use of trailers and proper backing skills. Experience needed in the operation and maintenance of lawn mowers, weed eaters and knowledge of proper safety and use of landscaping equipment. Experience in cleaning and maintaining public facilities, restrooms, campgrounds and park grounds. Knowledge and basic understanding of inventory and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail and cleanliness.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical.

• Collects parking fees and/or camping fees, processes credit cards, balances daily receipts and funds, and prepares deposits.
• Cleans restrooms at Trailheads; operates a pressure washer; removes graffiti.
• Collects trash at Trailheads; reports unauthorized vehicles and vandalism.
• Assists in the building and maintenance of trails.
• Downloads trail data and uploads into database system.
• Removes snow at Trailheads.
• Assists the trails maintenance section in meeting project deadlines.
• Makes facility repairs as required.
• Performs related duties.
