The FSQA Technician will support components of protecting safety, quality, and legality of food products being manufactured at the plant level. This role will support the FSQA Manager with implementation of the Quality Management Program (QMP) at the primary processing level. Conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of production processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.
Note:
FSQA Technician residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of fifteen dollars per day for room and board, for each day that at least 8 hours of work is offered.
- Conduct standardized tests on products and materials to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and international, federal and state regulations.
- Document data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards and company policies and procedures.
- Record test data such as weights, temperatures, moisture content, qualities and quantities inspected or graded.
- Apply proper acceptance/rejection criteria and mark items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
- Audit production facility and review employee behavior for proper sanitation.
- Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provide recommended process improvements to Production/QA Management.
- Prepare reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities to production.
- Maintain a working knowledge of company, government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
- Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
- Notify designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
- At some locations:
May perform weekly pest control and document findings. - Serve as the facility resource for all regulatory functions.
- Proficient in testing methodology, theory and interpretation relating to various lab and scientific disciplines.
- Identify work related problems and recommend effective solutions as appropriate.
- Perform other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
- Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a food production environment.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seafood experience preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
