Kuukpik Corporation was established in 1973 under the provisions of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). It owns the surface rights to portions of the Colville River Delta, located 50 miles west of Prudhoe Bay.

Kuukpik Corporation successfully negotiated a comprehensive surface-use agreement. This agreement established provisions for education, training, preferences in contracting, employment, and the environment for the village of Nuiqsut.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Barista will prepare serves a variety of specialty coffee drinks, along with other beverages such as teas, smoothies, and soft drinks. Additionally, they will offer and serve select food items to patrons, ensuring a complete and satisfying experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee and tea to patrons; correctly customized orders as requested.
  • Describes product details to customers.
  • Receives and processes customers payments.
  • Serves prepared food and baked goods including sandwiches, biscotti, muffins, or bagels.
  • Ensures the customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparations items.
  • Cleans and sanitized all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.
  • Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
  • Stocks supplies or retail products; may inventory, order or receive products as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES
  • Excellent and verbal written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow all safe food handing procedures and sanitation practices.
  • Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons.
  • Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently and kindly.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills and customer service procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be available to work early morning, evenings, weekends, holidays.
