What You Will Be Doing:

As a Food Service Lead with Goose Creek Correctional Center, you will:

  • Direct kitchen staff, including Food Service Journey employees and inmate workers, in the preparation and production of meals for up to 1,500 inmates.
  • Ensure stock is pulled for the daily pre-set menus and ensure medically prescribed diets are properly prepared for each meal service.
  • Direct the production and preparation of all bakery items.
  • Oversee and instruct kitchen staff in the areas of cooking, baking, sanitation, nutrition, and portion control.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

GCCC is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. You will be working in an institutional setting with inmates daily.

  • Food Service:
    Knowledge of preparing and serving food for consumption.

    Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
RECRUITMENT DIFFICULTIES

Starting salary may be approved up to Step D - $27.75, if criteria are met.

or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
