Recreation Assistant; Lifeguard NF

Responsibilities

• Perform life‑guarding duties and employ safety rules for the protection of pool guests.
• Rescue swimmers and administer first aid as required.
• Keep accurate records and adequate supplies.
• Assist in maintaining pool and area clean and free from hazards.
• Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed.

• Direct deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for this position.
• One‑year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E‑Verify) check.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre‑employment checks in accordance with AR 215‑3, Chapter 2.
• Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
• Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
• In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24‑hour period.
• Incumbent must follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
• May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
• Work hours may involve weekdays, weekends, holidays, and/or evenings/nights.
• In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
• A medical examination may be required, including hearing and eye exams.

• A qualified candidate must possess the following:
  • Lifeguard (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent, e.g., Star Guard or Ellis).
  • American Red Cross Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard or Ellis).
  • First Aid.
  • Customer service experience.
• Highly preferred:
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent, e.g., Star Guard or Ellis Water Safety Instructor Certification.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent, e.g., Star Guard or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

• This job is open to candidates worldwide (Military Spouse Preference and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration).

• Access to certain federal facilities may require a REAL ‑compliant driver's license/ (marked with a star) or an Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) from WA, MI, MN, NY, or VT.

• Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
• This job is part of a pay‑banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
• Non‑foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
