Local Rotational Security Officer - Maniilaq Clinics , On Call/Off

Overview
Job Description: The Security Officer provides security for NANA Management Services at an assigned unit or location where health, safety and security are the top priority. This assignment is at the Maniilaq Village Health Clinics and surrounding areas with corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers). The position operates on a 1 week on, 1 week off rotational schedule and is local to the NANA Village.
The role may require on-call work outside of normal business hours. A ten consecutive day training program is required in Kotzebue, AK; lodging and transportation for the training will be provided for new hires.
- Monitor assigned areas or grounds visually, electronically, or audibly, through roving inside facilities, roving in vehicles, or other appropriate locations.
- Ensure the safety and compliance actions of self and others at all times.
- Verbally de-escalate situations to protect employees, customers, and clients.
- Inspect doors, windows, and other areas to verify they are secure.
- Report and record data such as property damage and unusual occurrences in accordance with company policies.
- Assist in setting up for events, moving furniture and displays, and preparing the clinic for various functions.
- Warn violators of infractions and, as needed, apprehend or expel violators.
- Notify onsite personnel of visitors wishing to see them.
- Respond to emergencies or disasters to preserve life and property, including fire safety and active shooter protocols.
- Input or monitor safety and life-support computer programs as required.
- Issue and record s as appropriate.
- Check systems (heating, lighting, sprinklers, security, ventilation, fire, etc.) to ensure operational status.
- May perform other duties as assigned and may be combined with other position duties.
- Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met.
- Must be able to work on-call and outside of normal business hours if needed and scheduled in advance.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success may be assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be able to pass State of Alaska background check and obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work.
- Team-oriented with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
- Ability to make decisions in the moment with minimal supervision.
- Stamina to be on your feet for 8–12 hours per shift.
- Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
- Safety-oriented, as this is a safety-sensitive position.
- Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
Physical Requirements
Weather: Indoor/Outdoor; frequently exposed to arctic conditions.
Noise level: Moderate to loud.
Description of environment: Public setting at the NANA Village Maniilaq Health Clinics.
Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
