Job Summary
The selected candidate would operate top hammer drill rigs and drilling equipment including John Henry and GPS equipped drills on projects ranging from highway right of way cuts, to quarries, to bolting and dowel work on project sites throughout Alaska.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate GPS equipped Sandvik DX800 and DX900 top hammer drills for highway right of way, quarry, and rock bolting/dowel projects
* Operate John Henry excavator mounted drill rigs for access pioneering.
* Complete equipment pre-shifts and communicate equipment needs with supervisor and maintenance staff.
* Ensure drill logs are complete and provide support to blasting crew.
* Apply safety practices and guidelines associated with the project and in accordance with Southeast Roadbuilders' safety manual.
* Must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays. Typical weekly work hours can meet or exceed 60 hours.
Relevant Qualifications
* 2-3 years of experience as a Driller
* Ability to pass ATF background check
* MSHA (can provide)
* OSHA 10 (can provide)
* Alaska Department of Labor Explosive's Handler Certificate of Fitness (preferred)
* CDL with hazmat endorsement (preferred)
Physical Requirements
* Must be able to pass drug screening and a PAT (physical abilities test).
* Must be able to communicate regularly.
* Frequently exposed to loud noises
* Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions
