Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead

State Equipment Fleet (SEF), Division of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) seeks a highly skilled mechanic to maintain heavy‑ and light‑duty equipment used on secondary roads, rural airports, and other agency assets.

• Maintain, inspect, and repair all heavy‑ and light‑duty vehicles and equipment used by SEF.
• Diagnose and resolve complex equipment problems using troubleshooting techniques.
• Repair and modify transmissions, drive trains, suspensions, engines, emissions, fuel injection, hydraulic systems, and air or electrical brake systems for both light and heavy‑duty equipment.
• Provide paid training to obtain a CDL for qualified applicants.
• Travel by plane to remote locations for equipment maintenance; day trips or overnight stays as required.

• Mechanical expertise in vehicle engines, parts, and systems.
• Experience with heavy‑equipment diagnostics and repairs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and adaptability to changing conditions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commercial Driver’s License (Class
  
  A) is required; applicant must obtain or already hold a valid CDL.
• Must use steel‑toe boots and approved personal protective equipment.

• Copy of Class A CDL, front and back (if applicable).
• Three professional references (name, title, phone).
