Position: Diesel & CNG Fleet Mechanic – 2nd Shift
Shift: 2:00 pm – 1:00 am Monday – Friday
Starting Pay: $30.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Shift Differential: Included

Responsibilities- Diagnose, repair, and maintain GFL’s Diesel and CNG fleet under the supervision of maintenance leadership and senior mechanics.
- Complete basic inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical parts to ensure proper operating condition.
- Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation.
- Perform electronic diagnostics and repair electrical equipment and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
- Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and other administrative duties as required daily.
- Execute work as scheduled by shop supervision or higher‑grade technicians.
- Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations.
- Effective communication skills across various levels of the organization and with customers and external vendors.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
- Experience using diagnostic software preferred; must be computer literate and willing to be trained in software systems.
- Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
- ASE certifications preferred.
- 3+ years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.
- Valid Brake Safety Certificate and 609 A/C System Certification.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
- Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention required.
- Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to operate trucks and other equipment as needed.
- Ability to use a computer and related devices while seated at a desk or workstation.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to reach above shoulders and lift up to 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 100 pounds.
