JOB SUMMARYThe Level 3 Pipefitter performs a full range of journeyman‑level pipe fitting and structural fitting duties, including the fabrication, installation, positioning, alignment, and fitting of piping systems, flanges, and structural components. This position is responsible for interpreting layouts, verifying field dimensions, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
Key responsibilities include performing fabrication and layout activities, conducting field verification, and executing basic rigging operations to safely install and assemble piping and structural systems. The Level 3 Pipefitter applies technical expertise and craftsmanship to support the safe, efficient, and high‑quality completion of maintenance and construction activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Review Isometric and P& and job specifications to determine work requirements.
- Perform all phases of positioning, alignment, and fitting for fabrication of components.
- Select type and size of material in accordance with job specifications.
- Prepare material take‑offs based on piping, structural, and instrumentation diagrams and drawings.
- Fabricate and lay out piping spools as well as structural components.
- Measure, fabricate, and fitting of piping and structural systems.
- Maintain preheat temperatures in accordance with specific welding procedures.
- Cut, grind, and prepare pipe and structural components according to job specifications.
- Have knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as hydraulic, air and electric shop equipment.
- Maintain records of work orders and materials used.
- Mentor and co‑coordinate the work of co‑workers.
- Use of Respiratory equipment. Local and portable exhaust ventilation systems (LEV), as well as Power Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), along with half mask and full‑face respirators.
- Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
- Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
- Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid (U.S issued) Driver’s License is required.
- A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
- The ability to work 80.5 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation is required.
- At least five (5) years of experience in pipe fitting, structural fitting, fabrication, installation, positioning, alignment, and the fitting of piping systems, flanges, and structural components is required.
Five (5) or more years of experience working as a journeyman‑level Pipefitter specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred.
