TITLE:
Journeyman Electrician
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate, with post-secondary or formal apprenticeship training
Alaska certificate of Fitness for Electrician or ability to acquire certificate within one (1) yearof hiring.
Demonstratedaptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Valid Alaska driver's license.
Suchalternativestotheabovequalificationsasthe Boardmayfindappropriateandacceptable.

Tohelpmaintainthephysicalschoolplantinaconditionofoperatingexcellencesothatfull educational use of it may be always made.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilitiesincludebutarenotlimitedtothefollowing:
Assumesprimaryresponsibilityforthesafeconditionoftheelectricalsystemsinthefacilitiesownedoroperatedbythe District.
This includes lighting fixtures,wiring, electricalapparatus,and theelectricalparts of heating,ventilation, and refrigeration equipment.
Determines which repair jobs may be performed by electricians, custodians, and maintenance workers on the staff and which must be performed by outside contracts and advises the Director of Property Services accordingly.
Supervisesallelectricalrepairworkperformedby Districtpersonnel.
Supervisesandexecutespreventativemaintenanceworkordersonelectricalequipment.
Instructscustodiansandmaintenanceworkersonthecorrectproceduresinhandlingelectricalequipment,andinthesafe use of tools in electrical repair work.
Workswith the Director of Property Services in estimating costof electricalrepair projects intermsoflaborand materials.
Alsosketches outand does material takeoffs on small electrical remodeling projects.
Supervises the installation and operation of all lighting and electrical sound equipment in auditorium and gymnasium for all special theatrical, athletic, and other performance events.
Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains the inventory of District-owned electrical equipment, tools, and supplies.
Works with the fire alarm systemscontractor in the inspection and repair of District fire detection andalarm systems onan as-needed basis.
Submitspreventativemaintenancerecommendationsforelectricalequipmentinthe District.
Performsotherdutiesasassignedbythe Director of Property Services .
LENGTH OF POSITION:
7.5 hours per day, 261 days per year
SALARY:
Range 23 Step 1, $42.61 per hour or DOE
EVALUATION:
Performanceofthisjobwillbeevaluatedinaccordancewithprovisionsofthe Board Policy .
