Position Description
Better Tomorrows is a mission-focused not-for-profit organization. We are working to alleviate poverty by providing programs, supportive services, and case management to over 26,000 residents of affordable housing in more than 100 communities across the nation, including Hawaii and the Virgin Islands.
We are searching for a dedicated, creative and reliable individual to implement programs and services aimed at promoting our five core focus areas:
Health, Wellness and Nutrition;
Academic Support;
Financial Literacy;
Job Readiness; and Social and Community Engagement. This is a part‑time position, approximately 24 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seniors and must be bilingual in Cantonese.
- Manage all facets of programming and service delivery by working collaboratively with community stakeholders, resident associations, social service coordinators, and/or the on‑site community manager.
- Facilitate and implement programs, activities, and social services for senior citizens and people with disabilities, utilizing community resources and agencies.
- Implement health and wellness programs and other educational programs to promote physical and mental health and generate a sense of well‑being.
- Coordinate food bank initiatives and financial literacy programs to promote economic stability and self‑sufficiency.
- Assist with case management needs to enable seniors to age in place and provide assistance to people with disabilities.
- Implement neighborhood watch and other programming focused on building safe communities.
- Implement community‑wide socialization events to build a positive, strong community.
- Facilitate educational programs for senior residents, planning and teaching curriculum.
- Create service goals and plans with residents and support residents to achieve those goals while monitoring progress.
- Develop and utilize resource files for making referrals and provide follow‑up when referrals are made.
- Daily use of the Better Tomorrows data system to track case management progress, demographic information, and program outcomes.
- Publish monthly community newsletter and calendar.
- Provide technical assistance to resident associations.
- Assist in limited fund development to supplement programs through grants, donations, and partnerships.
- Provide excellent customer service to our partner property management company, including assisting residents with lease compliance.
- Engage volunteers and community partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other computer software/database programs.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Bilingual in Cantonese.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in social service delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field (preferred).
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, reliable, and flexible.
- Prior knowledge of affordable housing and area social service resources.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and other software programs.
- Ability to safely lift 25 pounds.
Hourly wage: $25.00 – $28.00.
