Location: False Pass

We are searching for a Learning Game and Tutor Research Programmer – an early‑career software engineer focused on educational technology, working under the direction of Professor Bruce McLaren.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software applications, often within a team, or modify existing software to meet research needs.
  • Maintain and extend existing applications, correct system bugs, test upgrades, and keep documentation up to date.
  • Analyze alternative algorithms, new routines, and system changes, and suggest program or system modifications.
  • Document new designs, code changes, and modifications.
  • Manage software code repositories.
  • Set up software to run in classrooms over the Internet.
  • Work in classrooms, monitoring how actual users (students) interact with learning materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • One year experience in research computing systems analysis, systems programming, database analysis and design, or research computing.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular and React.
  • Working knowledge of software version control, object‑oriented programming, and software engineering principles.
  • Experience with Unix‑based operating systems, containerization technologies (e.g., Docker), and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
  • Working knowledge of Unity is valued.
  • Proof of comparable education and experience may be considered.
Requirements
  • Successful background investigation.
  • Act 153 clearance (Child Protection).
