SUMMARY
Northline Seafoods is a growing seafood processing company seeking an experienced and motivated deckhand for our “Miss Molly” sister barge in Bristol Bay, Alaska. This position will have a heavy emphasis on crane operation for offloading salmon from fishing vessels, generating fish tickets, facilitating food and fuel sales to the fleet, and providing an exceptional level of fleet support and services.
The role may also expand to include off-season work in the final processing of Bristol Bay salmon in Bellingham, WA. As we grow, we're looking for candidates with an all-hands-on-deck perspective and a strong team-oriented approach.

Travel Requirement: As of May 7, 2025, a REAL
-compliant identification is required for domestic air travel, including flights to Alaska. Candidates must meet this requirement prior to hire.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Offload salmon from fishing vessels safely, efficiently, and with accurate poundage recording.
- Distribute slurry ice to fishing vessels in support of Northline's quality goals.
- Assist with the loading, unloading and proper stowage/lashing of all cargo on the barge.
- Safely and efficiently operate cranes to offload fish from fishing vessels and move cargo safely from barge to fishing vessel.
- Assist in keeping an accurate inventory of company and fleet cargo on board Miss Molly at all times.
- Able to appropriately tie and un-tie both fishing and tender vessels safely in all types of weather.
- Offload fish from Miss Molly barge tanks to tender tanks as needed.
- Ensure proper and safe line handling.
- Assist with splicing lines and making slings as needed.
- Provide maintenance, repair, and basic troubleshooting of fish buying activities.
- Keep deck, storage and fish offloading areas clean, organized and in a safe and seaworthy condition.
- Ensure you and your co-deckhands operate in an efficient and safe manner with an emphasis on a zero-accident mentality.
- Maintain proper records, particularly regarding fish offloading and services.
- Record and create fish tickets for each fishing vessel offload.
- Complete all safety training and documentation as required by local, state and federal regulations with emphasis on Coast Guard requirements.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 18+ years old.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a deckhand with emphasis on vessel tie-ups, fish purchasing and crane operation.
- Must be able to:
- Solve problems and make sound, rational decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
- Work collaboratively and effectively as part of a deckhand team.
- Perform assigned duties independently with minimal supervision.
- Routinely work 12+ hour shifts.
- Occasionally work 16+ hour shifts during peak season.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge or the ability to quickly learn crane operations is essential for this role.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for safely moving numerous types of cargo at sea.
- Experience working in the Bristol Bay fishery is a plus.
- Crane and forklift experience a plus.
- Previous tendering experience a plus.
- Knowledge of appropriate use of emergency equipment located on the barge.
- Positive, all-hands-on-deck attitude.
