Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer – Binghamton, NY
Full‑time position at Ramboll in the Americas.
Job Responsibilities- Perform design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, with a primary focus on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); also responsible for industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details for mechanical engineering projects.
- Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates during early project life‑cycle stages.
- Create design drawings using Revit 3D design software.
- Conduct or participate in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
- Design building ventilation systems to meet heat removal requirements and maintain indoor air quality in industrial spaces.
- Analyze spreadsheets to assess energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
- Use building modeling software (HAP or Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains/losses and evaluate ECM savings potentials.
- Specify mechanical equipment.
- Design plumbing and building utility piping systems.
- Summarize engineering results in written reports and presentations of the highest quality.
- Visit job sites as required for projects involving system upfit; expect a mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips.
- Adhere to the policies and standards outlined in Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by following Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience designing and engineering HVAC systems.
- Licensed professional engineer preferred.
- Ability to foster a creative engineering environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working across diverse areas within the mechanical engineering discipline.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite.
- Preferred experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software.
Base salary range: $79,000 to $100,000 per year, based on location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include bonus, overtime, or other forms.
