About Us

Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The receiving position involves verifying and processing incoming shipments, including supplies, equipment, and mail, against purchase orders and packing slips. Key responsibilities include inspecting for damage, accurately documenting and entering receipt information into university systems, storing items in designated areas, managing inventory records, and operating material handling equipment like forklifts. The role also requires excellent organizational and communication skills to coordinate with various departments and ensure the smooth flow of goods across campus.

Responsibilities

Receiving and Unloading:
Unload incoming vehicles and unpack shipments.

Verification:
Check items against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Inspection:
Inspect goods for any damage or discrepancies and report issues to appropriate personnel.

Documentation:
Accurately record received materials and update inventory records.

Storage and Distribution:
Store supplies and equipment in designated areas, and deliver them to the correct campus departments.

Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory control and assist with periodic inventory counts and reconciliation.

Equipment Operation:
Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and delivery vehicles to move items.

Record Maintenance:
Maintain organized files of purchase orders, receiving documents, and other related materials.

Administrative Tasks:
Process necessary accounting and purchasing forms and assist with merchandise follow-up.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a warehouse environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting and prolonged movement.

Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in receiving and inventory.

Strong organizational skills to manage storage areas and inventory.

Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with vendors, drivers, and internal departments.

Ability to perform basic mathematical operations for inventory and record keeping.
