Description
The Dougherty County Clerk of Court is hiring for a Senior Court Clerk. This position performs clerical and other support duties in the maintenance of permanent, accurate records for the Dougherty County Judicial System. The role may vary due to assigned department and works under general supervision.
Essential Tasks- Performs routine office tasks such as answering the telephone and interacting with the public.
- Gathers and provides information to judges, attorneys, supervisors, co‑workers, and the public.
- Gathers and distributes incoming mail; operates computer, office machinery (facsimile, copier, scanner, calculator).
- Examines and enters system records to ensure proper coding and accuracy.
- Enters information into database, files, cancels, indexes, processes, reviews, and records cash receivables for dispossessory warrant cases, real estate documents, plats, UCC filings, liens, and other warrants or civil claims.
- Files, records, indexes, and processes dispossessory warrants, defendant answers, requests for hearings, writs for abandoned vehicles, interrogatories, orders of the court, citizen warrants, bad check citations, hearing notices, and other related documents.
- Files, records, indexes, and reproduces Notary Public Certificates, Grand Jury Presentments, Orders of the Court, and State Bar Certificates.
- Inputs computer information and maintains files on motions, demands, requests, summons, subpoenas, writs, good behavior warrants, search warrants, commitment hearings, statement of claims, writs of possession, interrogatories, state’s notices, and traffic violations to maintain accurate records.
- Inputs computer information related to the scheduling of hearings and final dispositions and sentences.
- Files documents pertaining to dispossessory cases, handles all dispossessory appeals to State or Superior Court, files documents pertaining to cash bond forfeitures, prepares warrant withdrawal letters from Sheriff, requests for continuances, consent judgments and settlements, files and processes court documents pertaining to civil and felony cases, handles all felony and civil appeals.
- Attends court sessions and strikes juries.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
- May require possession and maintenance of a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
