About Us

Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.

Job Summary

The Distribution Center Assistant provides manual and clerical support for shipping, receiving, storing, and delivering supplies, equipment, and mail across a campus. This position ensures that academic, administrative, and residence departments receive necessary materials efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Receiving & Shipping: Unload incoming freight, verify packing lists against purchase orders, create PO receipts in the appropriate software system for received packages and process vendor returns or outgoing express shipments (UPS, Fed Ex). Enter all packages received in internal tracking software program and sort for delivery.
  • Post Office: Assist when required at East and West Campus post offices, including helping at the counter and sorting received mail/packages into the appropriate folders and smart lockers as required.
  • Campus Deliveries: Safely drive campus vans, UTV
    ¿ s/Golf Carts, or trucks to deliver goods and mail to various university departments. Deliver student packages received to campus smart lockers on East and West Campus as required. Remove aged packages from campus smart lockers and notify students via software program that the package must be picked up from an alternative location.
  • Facility Maintenance: Keep the warehouse and loading dock clean, organized, and safe.
  • Customer Service: Answer phone inquiries, greet delivery drivers, and assist faculty or staff with order statuses
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
  • 1 year of experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, or inventory management.
  • 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Certified Forklift operator.
  • Valid's driver's license with a safe driving record.
Preferred Qualifications

Previously worked in a university or college setting.

Proposed Salary

Salary is commensurate with Education and experience.
