Senior Engineering Aide

The Dougherty County Public Works department is hiring for a Senior Engineering Aide. The purpose of this position is to assist the Project Engineer in conducting land and property surveys, to include construction project layouts and inspections of in progress construction projects. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Essential tasks include:

• Meeting with contractors for Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) projects and City utility crews for projects.
• Preparing daily priority project list and operating survey equipment for all County projects.
• Conducting property research to determine property owners and property dimensions.
• Planning work schedules with contractors and County work crews daily.
• Directing work crews to the correct locations; preparing the work and contract area and providing necessary information to the contractor.
• Locating utilities and recording information in field books for later usage.
• Performing various administrative duties including completing necessary reports, responding to questions from the public, and typing and filing documents.
• Performing related work as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent and specialized training in surveying or closely related field.
• Two (2) years of engineering or construction related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

• Must possess and maintain a valid state commercial driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
