Job summary:
The dougherty county school system is seeking a marketing teacher to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals.the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of marketing principles, industry trends, and a passion for imparting knowledge to students. The marketing teacher will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of marketing professionals by delivering engaging and relevant coursework, fostering a positive learning environment, and staying abreast of evolving marketing strategies.
Minimum qualifications:
* hold a bachelor's degree or a psc-determined equivalent;
* valid georgia teacher certification or charter waiver eligible;
* proven experience in marketing, preferably with hands-on industry experience;
* such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate.
Skills and abilities:
* excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills;
* ability to relate to and motivate all students in a positive manner with respect;
* ability to effectively navigate and utilize a wide range of educational and career-related technology tools, software applications, and digital platforms while engaging students;
* ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
Performance responsibilities:
* demonstrates prompt and regular attendance;
* be present, organized, and enthusiastically committed to the success of all assigned students;
* designs, develops, and updates curriculum for marketing courses, ensuring alignment with industry standards and emerging trends;
* creates instructional materials, including lesson plans, presentations, and assignments, to facilitate effective learning;
* fosters critical thinking and practical application of marketing concepts through real-world examples and case studies;
* develops and administer assessments to evaluate students' understanding and application of marketing principles;
* stays current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and marketing strategies to bring real-world relevance to the classroom;
* fosters partnerships with industry professionals and organizations for guest lectures, workshops, and potential internship opportunities;
* maintains the degree of discipline and order in the classroom necessary to effectively instruct students;
* counsels with students and parents on learning and discipline problems as necessary;
* evaluates and records student progress; prepares reports for parents and/or guardians;
* engages in ongoing professional development activities to stay updated on advancements in marketing education and pedagogy;
* attends and/or participates in all required staff meetings; performs other student-focused responsibilities assigned by the building principal and/or district; supports activities deemed necessary by the district and/or building principal in order to accomplish the objectives of the position for professional development to further student achievement;
* performs other tasks as assigned by the principal/supervisor.
Work environment/physical requirements:
* ability to lift and carry teaching materials, books, or small classroom equipment (typically up to 25 lbs);
* ability to prepare and manipulate learning materials;
* ability to stand and actively move around the classroom for extended periods;
* ability to move between classrooms, hallways, and other school areas as needed;
* ability to respond quickly in case of emergencies, such as evacuating students or assisting during drills;
* reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Reports to:
principal
Salary range: 10 month contract. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the dcss compensation guide.
