Job Summary

Due to the growth of our fully online MSW Master of Social Work program in clinical social work with children, families, and vulnerable adults, we are seeking an Assistant/ Associate faculty member. The MSW Assistant / Associate Professor will teach social work courses, mentor students, engage in research and scholarship, and provide service to the university and community. They also advise students, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in field education supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Instruct undergraduate and graduate courses in social work, potentially including core courses in practice, human behavior, and social welfare policy. Teaching workload of four classes per semester utilizing the Georgia View platform for classroom instruction.
  • Curriculum Development: Contributing to the development of the social work curriculum, including creating course materials, assignments, and assessments.
  • Student Mentoring & Advising: Providing guidance to students on academic and career matters, and potentially mentoring students in research and community engagement projects.
  • Research: Conducting original research, publishing findings in academic journals, and potentially securing external funding for research projects.
  • Service: Participating in departmental, school, university, and community service activities.

    Supervising students in field placements and conducting site visits (depending on the specific role).
  • Scholarly

    Activities:

    Engaging in activities that contribute to the advancement of the social work profession, such as presentations at conferences and participation in professional organizations.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or DSW in Social Work or closely related field and MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of post-MSW direct social work practice experience.
  • Two to five years of experience teaching social work courses.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence and a research agenda.
  • A commitment to community service, research, and preparing graduate students for clinical social work practice.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A social work license (e.g., LMSW, LCSW).
Salary

Proposed Salary:
Salary range is from: $51,600 to $56,000
