Job SummarySuccess Coaches respond to faculty and advisor notifications of student challenges with expediency and efficiency. Success Coaches serve a caseload of students who are assigned to them before and during a semester, monitor the Early Alert dashboard daily, and constantly communicate with students and campus resources regarding the progress of students.
Evening and weekend hours are periodically required to represent Student Success at invited campus events, facilitate Student Success events, and support Enrollment Management initiatives.
This position is grant-funded and is contingent upon the availability of external funding. Employment in this role is for a limited term and will be reviewed annually based on continued funding and program needs.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities- Conducting outreach by phone, email, or mail to students in target populations who receive early alerts and mid-term deficiencies for further information and connecting them to various campus resources.
- Working with students individually and in small groups to strengthen college-life balance, classroom success skills, and academic mindset.
- Assist students in overcoming barriers and building academic self-efficacy.
- Training students to practice self-regulation and take ownership of their academic experience.
- Support students in building study skills that improve academic performance.
- Develop or review student success plans for compliance and updates.
- Monitoring progress of students in caseload with check-ins, scheduled meetings or proactive outreach and communication, responding to students' questions, concerns and needs.
- Ensuring and tracking student compliance with any intervention or referral by monitoring EAB activity, contacting academic support, professors, advisors, coaches, or communicating with appropriate student services personnel.
- Documenting all activity in EAB and reporting on any observed trends to the Student Retention Coordinator and Executive Director for Student Success.
- Communicating directly with a student's assigned academic advisor to discuss any perceived registration, scheduling, or major selection issues that may be serving as barriers to success.
- Engaging in professional development related to transition, college life, and retention.
- Facilitating ASU-Turn Academy sessions, Stay Ready workshops, and Student Success programs.
- Representing Student Success at requested campus events.
- Performs other duties, as required
A bachelor's degree required from an accredited institution
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with student populations.
Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience in college advising, case management, counseling, tutoring, or life coaching.

All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Albany State University.
