Job SummaryThe department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics seeks a dynamic and innovative part‑time instructor of Computer Science to join our adjunct team. This role involves effective teaching, student mentorship and service to the department and the university. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching and have a commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process and the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower the students to succeed.
This role also includes responding to academic early alerts, suggesting opportunities for study abroad, internships, and research opportunities. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Teach both introductory and advanced level courses, in a face‑to‑face or online format.
- Utilize diverse teaching techniques to foster active learning.
- Lead and moderate classroom discussions.
- Administer and grade examinations and other coursework.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Master's degree or 18 graduate credit hours in computer science.
- At least two (2) years of applicable teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Master's degree in computer science.
Compensation is based on a per credit hour rate.

- Strong teaching skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of students.

- Mentor and advise students on academic and professional pathways.
- Adapt to changes in the field and incorporate them into the learning experience.
- Connect, collaborate, and work effectively with faculty, staff, and industry partners.
All selected candidates must successfully pass a Background Check review prior to start with Albany State University. Certain positions may also require a credit check for “Positions of Trust” and/or approved departmental purchase card usage, a motor vehicle report for positions that require driving an Albany State University vehicle, and a successful pre‑employment drug test.
