JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System (DCSS) is seeking a highly qualified ESOL Teacher to support multilingual learners in developing English language proficiency and academic success. The ESOL Teacher collaborates with school leaders, classroom teachers, families, and district staff to deliver research-based language acquisition instruction, monitor student progress, and ensure compliance with state and federal ESOL requirements. This position plays a vital role in advancing equitable access to rigorous instruction and closing achievement gaps for English Learners (ELs).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Instruction & Student Support
- Provide direct language acquisition instruction aligned to WIDA standards and district curriculum;
- Develop and implement individualized Language Acquisition Plans for English Learners;
- Deliver targeted interventions and monitor student progress toward English proficiency;
- Support general education teachers with effective instructional strategies and ESOL accommodations.
- Administer required language proficiency assessments (WIDA ACCESS, Screeners) and analyze results to determine placement and services;
- Monitor the academic and language progress of active, exited, and waived EL students;
- Complete and maintain ESOL documentation, including Accommodation Forms (TPC) and required reports;
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district ESOL regulations and timelines.
- Provide timely parent/guardian notifications regarding ESOL eligibility and services in families' home languages when required;
- Maintain ongoing communication with families to support student success;
- Serve as an ambassador for the ESOL program within the school and community.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to integrate language supports into core instruction;
- Participate in IEP, Section 504, SST, and other student support meetings as needed;
- Engage in professional learning, staff meetings, and ESOL program initiatives;
- Attend school-sponsored events and activities that support student and family engagement.
- ontribute positively to the school culture and ESOL department initiatives;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
- Ability to stand, move, and position for visual communication;
- Ability to lift instructional materials and equipment;
- Ability to travel between school sites;
- Clear expressive communication (spoken, signed, or written);
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations;
- Reasonable accommodations may be provided in accordance with ADA.
SALARY RANGE: Tenth-month annual contract
