JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking an Instructional Coach to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The Instructional Coach plays a pivotal role in fostering professional growth and development among educators within the district. Through personalized coaching, collaborative planning, modeling lessons in classrooms and ongoing professional development, the coach will empower educators to excel in their roles and create an engaging and impactful learning environment.

The Instructional Coach will work with the classroom teachers in assisting with the full implementation and monitoring of all district's adopted programs and curriculum. The Instructional Coach will also work with administrators and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret, and use it to guide instructional decisions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold a Master's Degree or higher in curriculum and instruction is preferred;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience and certification at the specific grade level is required;
  • Knowledge of the design and implementation of lesson plans for students;
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in instruction;
  • Understanding the characteristics of learners;
  • Knowledge of the processes of successful coaching;
  • Successful experience in working collegially with teachers;
  • Successful experience as a staff developer is desirable;
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to provide remediation appropriate with program standards to impact student learning progress and development with a wide range of achievement levels;
  • Ability to use the latest technical technology in education;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to communicate, problem-solve, manage conflict, and collaborate effectively;
  • Ability to share research-based instructional approaches with teachers and administrators;
  • Ability to train teachers in utilizing measures of achievement like universal screeners to diagnose and remediate students.
  • PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Student Achievement and Support
  • Increases student academic achievement;
  • Evaluates student achievement and assists with placing students in the appropriate intervention and support services;
  • Collaborates with teachers to develop best practices for the continuous academic growth of students;
  • Performs other duties as it relates to the improvement of student achievement as determined by the Principal
  • Instructional Best Practices
  • Teaches, models, and facilitates research-based best practices within the school's instructional program;
  • Facilitates change in instructional practices of teachers that will enable them to diagnose student needs more analytically, plan more productively, and teach more effectively;
  • Provides specific integration and differentiation strategies that enable teachers to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Data Analysis and Instructional Planning
  • Trains teachers, disaggregates, and analyzes student achievement data to improve student performance;
  • Identifies needs and makes recommendations for appropriate instructional materials and assessments that directly support and align with district instructional goals.
  • Professional Development and Teacher Support
  • Provides professional development on best practices in instruction across the curriculum;
  • Observes teachers in their classrooms and offers insight for enhancement of teaching-learning situations.
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Establishes, maintains, and enhances effective communication with administrators, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders;
  • Networks with other instructional coaches and participates fully in ongoing professional development to extend literacy and instructional competencies in all content areas.
  • Instructional Technology Integration
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of instructional technology and other educational tools to enhance and extend instruction.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift and carry teaching materials, books, or small classroom equipment (typically up to 25 lbs);
  • Ability to prepare and manipulate learning materials;
  • Ability to stand and actively move around the classroom for extended periods;
  • Ability to move between classrooms, hallways, and other school areas as needed;
  • Ability to respond quickly in case of emergencies, such as evacuating students or assisting during drills;
