JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a business education teacher to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a strong background in business, and the ability to inspire and motivate students to excel in the field of business.

The Business Education Instructor will engage students in the creation and management of a small business through the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation. Using a project-based approach the instructor will integrate accounting, finance, marketing, business management, legal and economic environment in this pathway.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold a bachelor's degree or a PSC-determined equivalent Valid Georgia Teacher certification or Charter Waiver Eligible;

Proven experience in business, preferably with hands-on industry experience;

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills;

Ability to provide remediation appropriate with program standards to impact student learning, progress and development;

Ability to use the latest technology in educational and career related technology disciplines including keyboarding and data entry.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance;

Be present, organized, and enthusiastically committed to the success of all students;

Develops and delivers engaging and comprehensive lesson plans that cover various aspects of business studies, including but not limited to entrepreneurship, economics, marketing, finance, and management;

Utilizes a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and ensure student understanding and retention;

Develops detailed, engaging instructional plans;

Assesses student progress through regular quizzes, tests, projects, and other forms of evaluation, providing constructive feedback to help students improve;

Instructs designed classes in accordance with formulated plans and outlines, modified as necessary to achieve the learning objectives; all within the policies of the school system;

Maintains the degree of discipline and order in the classroom necessary to effectively instruct students;

Fosters strong relationships with students, parents, and stakeholders to ensure a supportive learning environment and promote the school's mission and values;

Counsels with students and parents on learning and discipline problems as necessary;

Stays updated on current trends and developments in the field of business and integrate relevant industry insights into the curriculum;

Performs related duties as assigned as circumstances require;

Supervises or assists in the supervision of school activities as assigned;

Completes all records and reports on time and with accuracy;

Maintains satisfactory performance on the system Evaluation Instrument;

Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Principal/Supervisor.

REPORTS TO: Principal

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
