Healthcare Science Teacher

The Dougherty County School System is seeking a Healthcare Science Teacher who will be responsible for teaching diagnostic procedures in the field of cardiology, radiology, and pulmonology. While also teaching the theoretical and practical concepts, strategies and techniques associated with non-invasive techniques in cardiology, radiology, and pulmonology that include healthcare science, biotechnology, sports medicine, diagnostic and therapeutic services within the Career, Technical and Agricultural education (CTAE) framework.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a related field, a current professional license in the field, two years of occupational experience in the field, and previous teaching experience is preferred.

Knowledge of fundamental principles in the fields of healthcare science, non-invasive technology in healthcare, diagnostic and therapeutic services and employability skill development; knowledge of instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner; ability to use computer based training software; knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations related to the fields of healthcare science, biotechnology, sports medicine, diagnostic and therapeutic services;

knowledge of current industry standards in the fields of healthcare science, biotechnology, sports medicine, diagnostic and therapeutic services, ability to differentiate instruction and assess student performance; ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in a professional manner; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Instructional responsibilities include teaching students the fundamentals of Healthcare Science, preparing engaging, rigorous lessons that balance instruction, demonstration, and hands-on work time, encouraging observation, questioning, and investigation; instructing using a variety of effective strategies such as research projects, group discussions, cooperative learning, and project/problem-based learning.

Professional engagement includes attending in-person faculty meetings and participating in professional learning sessions as required; demonstrating prompt and regular attendance; performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

Industry and career readiness involves establishing and maintaining industry connections to facilitate real-world learning experiences for students; supporting and advising students involved in Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) student organizations.

Communication and collaboration involve communicating effectively and professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and stakeholders through verbal and written channels.

Work/physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry teaching materials, books, or small classroom equipment (typically up to 25 lbs); ability to prepare and manipulate learning materials; ability to stand and actively move around the classroom for extended periods; ability to move between classrooms, hallways, and other school areas as needed; ability to respond quickly in case of emergencies, such as evacuating students or assisting during drills;
