Job SummaryThe Dougherty County School System is seeking a High School Math teacher to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards‑aligned instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem‑solving, and real‑world application of mathematical concepts. This role fosters a positive and engaging learning environment where all students are supported to achieve academic success and develop mathematical proficiency.
The teacher utilizes data‑driven practices, differentiated instruction, and innovative strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners while contributing to a collaborative school culture focused on continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Valid Georgia Teacher certification or Charter Waiver Eligible
- Demonstrated knowledge of high school mathematics content (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre‑Calculus, Statistics)
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to relate to and motivate all students in a positive manner with respect
- Ability to effectively navigate and utilize a wide range of educational and career‑related technology tools, software applications, and digital platforms while engaging students
- Ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
Professional Expectations
- Strong content knowledge in secondary mathematics and the ability to make concepts accessible and relevant to all learners
- Ability to analyze and use student performance data to inform instruction and intervention
- Skill in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English learners
- Proficiency in integrating instructional technology and digital tools to enhance student learning
- Strong classroom management skills that foster a positive, safe, and productive learning environment
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, colleagues, and community partners

Instructional Planning and Delivery
- Develop and implement instructional plans and materials aligned with state standards and curriculum frameworks
- Plan engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
- Deliver instruction using a variety of methods, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and hands‑on activities
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students and accommodate varying levels of readiness and learning pace
Assessment and Student Progress
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and understanding of mathematical concepts
- Analyze assessment data to evaluate student progress and inform instructional decisions
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their performance and progress
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine assessment tools and strategies
Classroom Management and Environment
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive learning atmosphere and address behavioral issues constructively
Collaboration and Professional Growth
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and instructional strategies for enhancing math instruction
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends, research, and pedagogical approaches in math education
