Albany State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Forensic Sciences to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct research, and mentor students. The role contributes to the development and maintenance of a robust forensic science program, including collaborations with law enforcement and forensic laboratories.
Teaching- Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in forensic science (crime scene investigation, forensic biology, chemistry, toxicology, and advanced topics)
- Develop and implement new curricula aligned with advancements in the field
- Design and supervise hands‑on laboratory exercises
- Assess student learning outcomes and provide developmental feedback
- Conduct independent research in forensic science
- Secure external funding via grants
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences
- Involve students in research projects
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees
- Advises students on academic and career paths
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies and forensic labs
- Engage in community outreach to promote forensic science
- Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, or closely related field
- Demonstrated undergraduate/graduate teaching experience
- Active research program with peer-reviewed publications
- Expertise in forensic techniques (DNA analysis, trace evidence, toxicology, digital forensics, etc.)
- Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, or related field
