Parent Mentor

Position Summary

This role is dedicated to advising, educating, and supporting families of students with disabilities within the Clarke County School District. The Parent Mentor serves as a key resource, helping families navigate the educational system and advocating for the needs and rights of their children to ensure they receive appropriate and effective educational support.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

• Serve as a liaison and enhance communication between parents and school district staff.
• Assist parents with explanation of parental rights and the IEP process.
• Collect information needed to determine parent needs in the district.
• Assist with parent training and follow-through as needed.
• Assist parents and students with disabilities who are suspended from school to intervene in ways that decrease the need for further disciplinary referrals at the school level.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
