Part-Time Instructor of Computer Science
The department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics seeks a dynamic and innovative Part-time instructor of Computer Science to join our adjunct team. This role involves effective teaching, student mentorship and service to the department and the university. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching and have a commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process and the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower the students to succeed.
This role also includes responding to academic early alerts, suggesting opportunities for study abroad, internships, and research opportunities. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Teach both introductory and advanced level courses, in a face-to-face or online format. Utilize diverse teaching techniques to foster active learning. Lead and moderate classroom discussions. Administer and grade examinations and other coursework. Additional responsibilities will include advising and mentoring students.
Master's degree or eighteen (18) graduate credit hours in computer science. A strong record of teaching. At least two (2) years of applicable teaching experience at the collegiate level.
Compensation is based on a per credit hour rate.

Knowledge of effective teaching practices, including online and technological instruction. An understanding of current trends in the field, best practices, and standards in computer science. Strong teaching skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of students. Strong written and oral communication skills. Skilled in providing quality feedback on assessments to aid in student learning. Ability to mentor and advise students on academic and professional pathways.
Ability to adapt to the changes in the field and incorporate them into the learning experience. Ability to connect, collaborate and work effectively with other faculty, staff, and industry partners.
All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Albany State University. Certain positions may also require the selected candidate to submit to or have: a credit check completed for "Positions of Trust" and/or approved departmental purchase card usage; a motor vehicle report for positions that require driving an Albany State University vehicle; a successful pre-employment drug test.
