The Assistant Professor within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program is a full-time, 12-month faculty position responsible for providing didactic instruction, hands-on clinical supervision, and comprehensive evaluation of DMS students. In addition to programmatic responsibilities, this role includes teaching online courses for the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree. The Assistant Professor plays a Critical role in ensuring students develop competent sonographic skills, adhering to CAAHEP/JRC-DMS accreditation standards, engaging in departmental service, and delivering high-quality, accessible online education.

• Full-time instruction and supervision of diagnostic medical sonography students in didactic, laboratory, and clinical settings.
• Evaluation of student clinical competencies and diagnostic imaging quality.
• Instruction in sonographic procedures and online Health Sciences course modules utilizing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) frameworks.
• Academic advising and professional mentorship for Health Sciences students.
• Active participation in departmental, collegiate, and university-wide committees and student recruitment.
• Promoting effective patient/student communication and ethical clinical practices.
• Supporting student learning, clinical progression, and minimizing technical friction for online adult learners.
• Maintaining current professional credentials and knowledge of the professional discipline.
• Maintaining appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development.
• Full-time teaching load of at least 15 credit hours per semester.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Program director, Chair of Health Sciences, and Dean of DCHP.

The Assistant Professor of DMS/Health Sciences is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical instruction, online academic facilitation, and institutional service. This role includes:

• Delivering a full-time teaching load encompassing direct supervision of students during patient care activities and structured online coursework.
• Assessing student performance in clinical procedures, including sonographic techniques, patient care, and radiographic imaging parameters.
• Designing and implementing rubrics, structured assignment prompts, and practical case scenarios to rigorously evaluate technical competency.
• Aligning online Health Sciences learning objectives with Quality Matters (QM) review standards for all BS degree modules.
• Leading comprehensive curriculum mapping projects and updating topical outlines to reflect current healthcare industry standards.
• Ensuring accurate and complete documentation of student clinical activities in compliance with legal and programmatic (CAAHEP/JRC-DMS) standards.
• Maintaining posted office hours to assist students in achieving program competencies and learning outcomes.
• Participating in faculty meetings, calibration sessions, and the program Advisory Committee.
• Upholding program policies and procedures as well as safety and infection control standards.
• Engaging in ongoing scholarship and professional development relevant to diagnostic medical sonography and higher education.
