Control Room Operator

Position Reports to Shift Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate assigned control systems including distributed control, water, steam, combustion, turbine generator and related components in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain assigned control systems to ensure proper operations Perform routine maintenance, safety checks, inspections, measurement reading and chemistry monitoring.
• As required, fill-in as Auxiliary Operator or Shift Supervisor (if qualified).
• Trains and develop other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities. Practices situational leadership, environmental and safety stewardship.
• Perform assigned duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
• Responsible for operating the power plant in a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Good judgment, innovative, resourceful, sense of initiative, able to make decisions.
• Associate’s degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics OR HS Diploma with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology, power generation or equivalent boiler/turbine theory
• Ability to use analytical process in identifying and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
• Understanding of power plant prints
• Ability to provide clear oral and written communication as well as, effectively communicate with and take direction from other plant personnel/supervisors.
• Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule with overtime and occasional call-ins.
