Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are partnering with a rapidly growing developer focused on large-scale renewable energy and power infrastructure projects across utility-scale solar, BESS, and data center power development.

We are looking for a senior electrical engineer who can operate at the intersection of project development, technical strategy, and customer/utility engagement. This is not a traditional design delivery role. The focus is on identifying technical solutions early, shaping projects through development and pre-construction, managing external engineering resources, and ensuring projects are technically viable, commercially competitive, and ready for execution.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the electrical development strategy for greenfield solar, BESS, and data center power projects from early concept through pre-construction.

  • Evaluate sites and project concepts to identify electrical opportunities, constraints, risks, and potential solutions.

  • Develop and validate electrical concepts, including MV collection, solar DC systems, BESS architecture, high-voltage interfaces, and data center power distribution.

  • Translate utility, owner, interconnection, EPC, and commercial requirements into practical project strategies and technical requirements.

  • Work closely with development, commercial, project management, utilities, owners, consultants, and equipment vendors to advance projects.

  • Manage and direct third-party engineering firms rather than owning detailed design production internally.

  • Review conceptual designs, single-line diagrams, studies, layouts, equipment selections, and technical assumptions to ensure projects are progressing in the right direction.

  • Provide engineering input into site evaluation, project feasibility, cost estimating, RFPs, vendor selection, procurement strategy, and value engineering.

  • Identify opportunities to improve project economics, constructability, schedule, and overall technical approach.

  • Support utility and owner discussions by providing technical insight and clearly communicating electrical concepts and project constraints.

  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs and make recommendations that balance engineering requirements, project cost, schedule, and commercial objectives.

  • Coordinate electrical interfaces across development, civil, engineering, procurement, and future construction teams.

  • Lead technical reviews and ensure external consultants deliver high-quality work aligned with project objectives.

  • Support projects through pre-construction and provide a clear technical handoff to the execution team.

  • Mentor engineers and help establish strong engineering and development practices across the organization.

What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience within utility-scale renewable energy, BESS, data centers, industrial power, generation, transmission, or related infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of MV collection systems, solar PV electrical design, BESS/PCS systems, and HV/substation interfaces.

  • Experience developing electrical concepts and making technical decisions during the early stages of projects, rather than solely executing established designs.

  • Ability to review and challenge engineering work produced by consultants and identify technical risks or opportunities.

  • Experience working with utilities, owners, EPCs, equipment vendors, and external engineering firms.

  • Ability to interpret electrical studies and technical deliverables and translate findings into practical project decisions.

  • Strong understanding of NEC/NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, NESC, utility requirements, and applicable electrical standards.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and common electrical engineering tools; advanced CAD production is not required.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • PE preferred.
