CT TECHNOLOGIST (ARRT)

Location: Albany, GA

POSITION OVERVIEW

The CT Technologist performs specialized computed tomography procedures in accordance with departmental protocols while ensuring patient safety, diagnostic accuracy, and strict compliance with radiation safety standards. This role requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and close collaboration with radiologists and clinical teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIALIZED TECH PROCEDURES

  • Perform CT procedures according to established departmental protocols
  • Verify patient identity per hospital policy
  • Confirm correct procedure using medical records and physician orders
  • Prepare procedure rooms and required supplies prior to exams
  • Explain procedures to patients and/or family members
  • Perform exams efficiently while maintaining diagnostic image quality
  • Properly label and quality-assure exams prior to release for interpretation
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality assurance (QA) procedures on CT equipment

RADIATION SAFETY

  • Follow all radiation safety and protection procedures for patients and staff
  • Limit radiation exposure to the area of interest only
  • Utilize gonadal shielding when appropriate, especially for pediatric and childbearing-age patients
  • Minimize repeat exposures through proper equipment setup
  • Wear radiation monitoring badges at all times
  • Use required protective equipment including lead aprons, gloves, thyroid shields, and leaded glasses
  • Maintain appropriate distance and shielding when not directly involved in radiation exposure

DOCUMENTATION

  • Accurately document and submit required data in a timely manner
  • Ensure documentation is clear, complete, and compliant with required formats
  • Use correct medical terminology and standardized documentation practices

TECHNOLOGY & EQUIPMENT USE

  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating CT equipment
  • Maintain equipment functionality and troubleshoot issues
  • Adapt to new technology to enhance productivity and patient care

ASSESSMENT & DIAGNOSIS SUPPORT

  • Collect patient data in a systematic and ongoing manner
  • Identify issues based on assessment findings
  • Prioritize data collection based on patient condition and exam requirements
  • Support diagnostic planning through accurate image acquisition

INTERVENTIONAL PROCEDURES

  • Assist with interventional CT procedures including biopsies, abscess drainage, and centesis reduction
  • Verify correct side and conduct procedural time-outs
  • Perform procedures per radiologist direction using sterile technique
  • Scan documentation into Radiology PACS
  • QA images prior to submission for radiologist interpretation
REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Vocational / Technical Degree in Radiologic Technology (Required)

EXPERIENCE

  • 1–2 years of CT experience (Preferred)

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

  • Certified Computed Tomography (CT) – ARRT
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality standards
  • Perform duties aligned with organizational mission, vision, and values
  • Maintain current knowledge through continuing education and training
  • Attend staff meetings, mandatory in-services, and competency evaluations
  • Provide age-specific, patient-centered care across all populations
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as required
