Position: Critical Care Clinical Supervisor - Days

Qualifications

2 Year / Associate Degree in Nursing (Required)

4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)

Work Experience

  • 5 years in acute care setting in area of specialty (Required)
  • 1 year of demonstrated proficiency in critical care competencies at expert level (Required)
  • 2 years in previous leadership (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications

Required Certifications / Licenses:

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Preferred Certifications / Licenses:

  • Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN)
Essential Functions
  • Technology and Equipment Use:
    Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role. Understands equipment operation. Maintains equipment in working order. Troubleshoots equipment problems. Uses technology to increase productivity. Adapts to new technology.
  • Care Team Leadership:
    Supports, leads and directs clinical care leadership team in the absence of the Director/Manager. Directs and delegates clinical staff to meet patients’ needs based on competency of personnel. Participates in assessment of staff competency and educates, coaches and mentors staff to achieve competence.
  • Quality and Patient Safety Outcomes:
    Implements unit specific strategies and colleague specific practice remediation that result in achieving specific clinical quality and patient safety outcomes. Assists with communication of information to staff. Provides coaching/counseling in a constructive manner. Keeps Director informed of any concerns, situations or conditions relative to staff, patients, family members or physicians.
  • Additional Duties:
    Participates in the orientation of new employees. Serves as a positive role model, mentor and resource person for less experienced nursing staff. Supervise employees on their respective shifts and prepares input for annual evaluations. Demonstrates exceptional maturity to facilitate a positive work environment. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility. Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in‑services and competency evaluations on time.

    Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight and demonstrated needs. Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines. Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with core values, mission and vision. Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions per departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of pathophysiology and related disease processes of the critical care patient.

    Keeps current on trends and developments in nursing and serves as a resource for critical care standards of practice. Demonstrates ability to think critically, prioritize and recognize emergencies and responds with proper protocol.
