Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Project Management

The Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Project Management will provide senior leadership in all aspects of the Albany-Dougherty County Economic Development Commission’s (ADEDC) major initiatives, including business recruitment, retention, and expansion efforts. The Vice President will initiate, cultivate, and strengthen partnerships internally with the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and staff. The Vice President initiates, cultivates, and strengthens partnerships externally with all economic development partners to include industry, employers, site selectors, government officials, community stakeholders, and utility partners.

The Vice President will focus on securing and developing public and private assets, such as industrial sites and infrastructure, to support and improve the region’s economic competitiveness as needed and directed by the ADEDC’s strategic plan.

The Vice President will serve the Albany-Dougherty County area, managing project scopes, timelines, and budgets for special projects while facilitating collaboration among public, private, and nonprofit stakeholders across the South Georgia region.

  • Serve as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Project Management:
  • Provide leadership and oversight to all major ADEDC initiatives and assigned staff or consultants.
  • Create and drive the standard of the highest professional culture and climate within the organization’s strategic operations.
  • Identify and engage new and existing industry partners to exceed the mission and vision of the ADEDC and cultivate relationships to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Communicate needs and opportunities regarding site readiness, infrastructure coordination, and product development to the President and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions and training providers to ensure that workforce development initiatives meet and exceed the needs of the local industry.
  • Work with internal and external partners to manage RFI responses, prospect visits, and due diligence processes as part of the broader economic development strategy.
  • Build, modify, and implement effective systems to track progress across initiatives, ensuring they are executed on time and within established parameters.
  • Assist the President with annual planning, budget development, and organizational leadership in the President’s absence.
  • Identify risks, challenges, and resource gaps, and proactively develop solutions to ensure seamless implementation of the strategic plan.
  • Secure and develop assets essential to the maintenance, operation, enhancement, and growth of industrial and commercial properties.
  • Attend professional meetings, conferences, and GEDA events to maintain professional knowledge and expand the organization’s professional network.
  • Create and implement marketing campaigns and reports to ensure all essential parties are effectively educated and engaged on the current and future actions of the ADEDC.
  • Provide reports, updates, and presentations to the board of directors and community stakeholders.
  • Develop and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with external organizations and industry partners to further the mission and vision of the ADEDC.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement processes that ensure the continuous improvement and growth of the region’s economic landscape.
  • Regularly measure and report project outcomes to the President and Board of Directors; and other duties as required.
Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, economic development, or a related field (master’s Preferred) and 5+ years of experience in the field. Must possess a strong understanding of economic development strategy, incentives, and community development processes.

Requisite Skills

Elevated organization, good judgment, and the ability to manage complex initiatives simultaneously with little oversight. Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, client relations, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

Physical Demands

Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments requiring PPE. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform duties in a standard office setting.
