Provide professional nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and practices. Follow practices established by AORN and recommended practices. Manage all aspects of a surgical specialty team; serve as the first‑line resource for staff and physicians related to specific team specialties. Complete staff schedules and performance appraisals.
Essential Functions- Lead personnel management, including interviewing, performance appraisal, disciplinary action/work improvement, coaching performance, and mentoring career growth.
- Serve as liaison between specialty team, OR staff, physicians, and vendors to ensure patient needs are met.
- Provide education to staff related to specialty team procedures, equipment, and supplies.
- Manage and maintain knowledge of OR equipment, becoming an expert in the use of specialty team equipment.
- Act as clinical resource for physicians and staff and support regulatory compliance with JCAHO and other requirements.
- Participate in budgeting, cost‑effectiveness activities, and leadership meetings within the department and hospital.
- Make staff assignments for specialty team procedures and ensure accuracy of physician preference cards.
- Develop expected outcomes for continuity of care, involving patients, families, and other disciplines; modify outcomes based on assessment; evaluate and document results.
- Direct and coordinate care across settings and among caregivers, engaging in teamwork and shared decision making.
- Promote nursing practice through participation in professional organizations and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain equipment in working order, troubleshoot problems, and utilize technology to increase productivity.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. - 1 or more years of experience in the operating room as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse.
- Strong clinical leadership, education, and teamwork skills.
- RN – Registered Nurse with a current Georgia license.
- BCLS – Basic Life Support (AHA).
- CNOR – Certified Operating Room Nurse (preferred).
- Expertise with specialty team equipment and OR technology.
- Ability to maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure operational readiness.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and continuous learning.
